BOW OF CHAMPIONS
Sadlers Wells - Redoute’s Choice - Zabeel - Makybe Diva - Sunline - Ouija Board

Together in one place at one time!

CatWalk’s Bow of Champions unites the majesty of music and the power of the racing thoroughbred.

This is a one of a kind violin bow, destined to become a collector’s item.

A bow forged in the ancient tradition of music making, using the very best horse hair available, and bringing together the world’s all-time champion breeding stallions and Group One winning thoroughbred mares from around the globe.

The horses featured in CatWalk’s violin bow are the household names which keep the dreams of racing alive. Those who truly love the thoroughbred racehorse will be moved by the power of the bow, no matter where in the world they live.

ABOUT THE BOW OF CHAMPIONS

Tail hairs from the three times Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, the multiple Group One winning mare Sunline, the Breeders Cup champion Ouija Board and the legendary stallions Sadlers Wells, Redoute’s Choice and Zabeel all feature in the bow, having been kindly donated by the owners of these champion horses.

The bow is to be auctioned at CatWalk’s Up and Away Dinner in Christchurch aptly during Cup and Show Week on 13 November 2008.

To keep the tail hairs in their original state and to retain the quality of the hair from these equine ’maestros,’ it will be seen as a collectors item and an incredible piece of art, and will not be played on the night. To present the thoroughbred hairs to the best advantage, the bow is a ¾ bow and so is slightly smaller than that of a standard concert violin. The bow will be beautifully encased with signatures of authenticity and brass name plates to ensure that the person who purchases it knows they have secured a unique piece of racing history.

To promote the musical aspects of the event, CatWalk has secured Fiona Pears - a world renowned New Zealand violinist - to perform on the night of the auction. Fiona has previously performed at significant overseas auditoriums in New York and London. She will play with a stunning ivory frog bow donated by Antonio Strings Ltd in Christchurch. This bow will also go to the successful bidder.

CatWalk welcomes any enquiries about the BOW OF CHAMPIONS.
