GRANT ALLOCATIONS 2010
Submissions for Funding
The CatWalk Trust is calling for expressions of interest for our annual funding round.
The Grants Approval Committee of the CatWalk Trust will make final decisions regarding funding but they have enlisted the help of the Neurological Foundation of New Zealand to ensure all applications for research funds are evaluated for their scientific merit and relevance to the aims of the Trust. All applications will be submitted to a peer review process.
The CatWalk Trust will accept proposals aimed at advancing research towards a cure for spinal cord injury.
Research projects can be based on:
- Biomedical or clinical research projects,
- A Graduate Scholarship for study towards a PhD ($25,000 annual stipend plus fees),
- A one or two year Post Graduate Fellowship to be undertaken either in New Zealand or in an overseas centre of excellence.
Grants of up to $100,000 will be considered for the 2010 round.
Note that this is the total sum that is available for distribution and may be spread across more than one project.
At this stage we are asking for expressions of interest from potential applicants for grants for research directed at finding a cure for Spinal Cord Injury. These should not exceed 2 pages and should provide an outline of the proposed research, its relevance to spinal cord injury and an estimate of cost.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 26 February 2010. Those applicants whose proposals meet the aims of the Trust may then be invited to submit full applications using a modified version of the Neurological Foundation’s Project Grant application form. The deadline for the full applications will be 2 April 2010.
All applications will be submitted to a peer review process and processed through the Neurological Foundation Scientific Advisory Committee who will meet in late June 2010. The final decision on any approval will be made by the CatWalk Trust Grants Approval Committee. The Grants Approval Committee will meet in early July with final decisions made known soon thereafter.
