SCI COMMUNITY
The CatWalk Trust works collaboratively with the following organisations and groups to help expediate the discovery of a cure for Spinal Cord Injury, and to promote heightened communication between groups and encourage shared utilisation of resources and expertise for the good of those affected by Spinal Cord Injury.
The CatWalk Trust is a member of the International Campaign for Cures of Spinal Cord Injury Paralysis (ICCP).
The ICCP is a body of affiliate non-profit organisations working to fund research into cures for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. The ICCP coalition mission is 'to expediate the discovery of cures for Spinal Cord Injury Paralysis'.
Other members of ICCP include; Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, Craig H Neilsen Foundation, French Institute for Spinal Cord Research, International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia, Japan Spinal Cord Foundation, Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Rick Hansen Man in Motion Foundation, Spinal Cure Australia, Neil Sachse Foundation, Spinal Research, Wings for Life.
COMMUNICATE, COLLABORATE, CURE...
The Spinal Cord Injury Network is an alliance of leading researchers, clinicians, people with spinal cord injury and key stakeholders committed to fast-tracking safe treatments for spinal cord injury and disease.
The Spinal Cord Injury Network is committed to improving recovery after injury, minimising disability and maximising quality of life through three goals. They are (i) to provide leadership for spinal cord injury research and treatment strategies (ii) to facilitate more effective clinical trials in spinal cord injury and (iii) to improve translation of basic and clinical research into evidence-based practice. By improving communication and collaboration, The Spinal Cord Injury Network seeks to build greater capability in researching and treating spinal cord injury.
The Spinal Cord Injury Network alliance currently consists of more than 35 organisations and 900 individiuals throughout Australia and New Zealand. Their philosophy is a very simple one. If we improve communication and collaborate, we will build capacity in our ability to research and treat spinal cord injury.
The New Zealand Spinal Trust is a registered charity providing information, education, research, advocacy and support to people who have spinal cord impairment so that they can enjoy independence.
The Trust works in collaboration with a number of entities, including health boards, ACC and the Ministry of Health to provide the resources required for people to take control of their own rehabilitation and therefore their lives.
Back-Up New Zealand is a national charity which has been created specifically to offer people with disabilities the same outdoor pursuit opportunities as people without disabilities. Back-Up prides itself on being able to cater for any disability and independence level and therefore ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to Know No Boundaries.
